Don't buy ANYTHING in Thailand(Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok, Udon Thani or anywhere else there).
All products are cheap imitations.
The only thing you should buy is food which is served in a clean restaurant.(Night market food not only stinks, but is not safe to eat).

Batik: Brilliant colors and distinctive designs have made Phuket’s batik cloth famous among tourists. Inspired by the natural surroundings, the sea and marine life, they are hand crafted piece by piece. Batik shirts, sarongs, skirts, bags and handkerchiefs are also popular souvenirs.
Seashell products: They are made into ornaments and gift items including necklaces, rings, bracelets, brooches, mobiles, lampshades, photo frames, etc.

Several good books?.You could permanently enrich your life learning about thai culture,buddhism or learn a little of the language.These things will be with you long after the cheap crappy copies have broken down(usually just as the movie gets interesting) or any of the other 'bargains' You could put the money on a digi camera upgrade.Unless you have photographic 'evidence'nobody back home will believe what you have seen…….monkeys riding motorbikes,elephants in city centre traffic….expect the unexpected.Enjoy

there are all kindsof clothing and nik-naksthat shecanget for you. DVDs are real cheap, but not really 'Thai'. A couple t-shirts, a couple DVDs, a few postcards, and a wallhanging and that should do it for the 1500 baht sis will have (she will actually use part of that on a fancy dinner
)
