The style of our ceremony was South Indian and Telugu. To ward of issues during the ceremony we commenced with prayers to Lord Vinavaka. It is an expectation that you will server desserts during the wedding. Kheer, laddu, barfee, halwa, jalebi, gulab jamun, roshogulla and dry fruit and nut sweets are in high demand at these weddings. For a few days ahead of the wedding festivities will occur at the bride’s home and groom’s home. During the ‘mehandi function’ which is the most anticipated at the bride’s home, her hands are adorned with designs using Henna.
Both families get together sing and dance the night away during an event called “Sangreet’. An Indian wedding is a huge affair involving very intricate planning and design and guest counts that can number in the hundreds. For a few days or even a week the festivities continue.
